Written and recorded largely across the span of 12 months, ATMBHH developed across various releases and locations. Sessions of frustration often resulted in additions to heavily distorted and mangled pieces like ‘resolut’ and but to the censored, an emerging method of creation for April, as previously the central need of the project was served before inclusions of the creators emotional state.

Across the album there is a strong sentiment of apathy and loss, exposing sensitive suggestions to the internal world of ff8282.

The music for each piece began as vague sketches that were elaborated and bought out through placing new instruments beside them. Some tracks continue April’s inclusion of string arrangements, while others feature found sounds and musical elements created through granular synthesis and other convoluted methods.

Recording was completed in isolation: the first person to hear the demos that would evolve to ATMBHH was John from 4000 Records. The inclusion of another person during the creative process was a first for ff8282, though this new step for the artist was one that was welcomed greatly as both parties shared a mutual love for championing all sides of the musical realm.

Dreaming Again

Cloud Tangle

'Dreaming Again' offers us vulnerable themes of personal enlightenment and insight, while also guiding us through dreamy imagery and surrealism through non-literal themes. In relation to past releases, this album steps out of the shade and into the sun. Building further on the sound palette established in recent years, there’s a continuing presence of Juno synthesiser and layered counterpoint melodies in the electric guitar and vocals. The lighter tone on much of the songs correlates with the generally uplifting mood scattered throughout, giving a nice contrast to the darker moments. Various lyrics reflect the artist’s recent interest in philosophy, in relation to the likes of psychology, epistemology, creativity and love.

There’s an appreciation here for the endless spectrum of the human experience, both desired and undesired and how the two co-exist.

The album’s tracks span across many years, with the ‘Dreaming Theme’ and a few other songs being written as early as 2019-2020. The variety of style and instrumentation scattered across this stretch of time lends itself to a unique listening journey, which was largely re-recorded and consolidated in Ramsay’s home studio in 2023-2024.

Cloud Tangle continues the heart of the project as a DIY venture by handling all the production, mixing and performance of the music herself. We see however a much more collaborative approach to the visual end of things for Dreaming Again, such as the album cover and a music video - roles solely filled by Cloud Tangle for past releases.

As the brain-child of drummer, composer and bandleader Evan J. Evans, Mèva's Journal has been a long time in the making. Evan had been working with and starting many projects throughout all forms of jazz and jazz-adjacent music, until he finally decided it was time to build what to him was the perfect band to explore the music of his mind.

Mèva's Journal explores different sounds of the '60s hard bop scene. A big and early inspiration to Evan has always been Thelonious Monk, being exposed to Monk in his first year at the esteemed Jazz Music Institute (JMI). Through Monk he found himself finding more people that he would come to look up to such as Eric Dolphy, Freddie Redd, Horace Silver, Bud Powell and Elmo Hope.
