This album is not special, or is it?

In the deepest corner of my mind, every note and letter is woven with a sense, a meaning that plunges into the depths, where authentic darkness resides. Speaking of death here is opening the door to true blackness, an inevitable journey toward the end of our existence. The years pass inexorably, bringing us closer to the inevitable farewell. Old age, illness, the forgetting of oneself and the dreams we long for, physical and mental scars, medication that provides brief relief followed by relentless illness, a repetitive dance until the last breath.

Oscillators, like the beats of life, stand as a perfect metaphor, perhaps not only for human existence but for the universe itself, with its constant flow between light and shadow, creation and dissolution.

And what I wonder is simply if this album is truly special, or if it's just my desire. I want to cling to the belief in its uniqueness, although the probability of the opposite being the norm looms. I leave in your hands the ability to confer that unique character, at least for you, who listens to it in some corner, immersing yourself in it.

Perhaps, in the end, this album is just a special reflection in my own internal gloom. Every note carries my blood, a trace of human vulnerability deciphered in each chord, weaving the landscape of an existence marked by fragility and inevitable death.

Weltklang

Weltklang is an electronic music project that was formed in the East-German town of Schwerin, German Democratic Republic, in 1980. Current members are Thomas Voburka and René Steuns.

The mastermind behind Weltklang is Thomas Voburka. Weltklang is particularly noted for the innovatively sparse and yet classic Minimal Wave track “VEB Heimat”, which was originally released in 1980. Inspired by the fast rise of Neue Deutsche Welle and by the Punk subculture's DIY attitude, Voburka's main principle was to remove all dispensable ornamentation and polish from his music and to use the simplest and most minimalist structures. On "VEB Heimat" for instance he made sole use of a simple Roland SH09 Synthesizer. Not hugely successful at first, the unique and futuristic sounding track managed to equal an international cult status over the following years. Today Voburka's Weltklang project is seen as one of the true classics in electronic music and for many DJs and Musicians “VEB Heimat” has grown to an all time favourite.

On the occasion of Weltklang's 25th anniversary, in 2004 Voburka decided to reform the project, together with London based programmer, producer and engineer René Steuns. Since then Weltklang have produced various remixes for other artists and did a lot of new tracks which they released as special vinyl editions. Not only for their original material but also for their remixes Weltklang remain true to their minimalist and deconstructive DIY approach.

Voburka, the original voice on “49 Second Romance” by P1/E, also founded the Berlin based electronic music label Exil-System in 1979.
